Student Postscript: Holly Bennett

Upon her graduation in April 2005 with an international relations degree, Holly traveled to Atlanta, GA, where she interned at the Carter Center, a non-profit organization founded by former President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalyn. As a member of the Democracy Program, she had the opportunity to travel to Liberia and observe the election of the first female president of an African country.
After her internship ended she worked part-time at The Carter Center wherever they needed her—the Development Department, the Finance Department, and the Office of the Executive Director—and she just recently accepted a position in the Center’s Annual Fund Department, which works with donors who give more than $1,000 a year to the Center. She is thrilled that she will be able to remain at The Carter Center for the next couple of years and feels fortunate to have the opportunity to work at an organization where there are so many people dedicated to peace-building and human rights.
She has enjoyed her time in the South, particularly the weather, the close proximity to Emory University (which offers numerous opportunities for academic involvement), and the many interesting and influential people she has met through The Carter Center. Some of her favorites include the Carters, of course, along with Zbigniew Brzeznski, John Edwards, Hamilton Jordan, Al Franken, and the numerous human rights defenders and non-profit leaders who enter the Center every day.
