Political Science alum lands position with Rep. Hoekstra

Rep. Peter Hoekstra's office has hired Derek Atkinson, who graduated in 2008 with a political science degree, to serve as Systems Administrator. A Marine Corps veteran, Derek interned with Rep. Hoekstra before landing the position. For more information, click here.

For those considering an internship in Washington, DC, the Department of Political Science is pleased to announce a new site just for you: www.gvsu.edu/gvdc. Some basic information is available now. We will add an FAQ, additional student reflections, and financial information in the coming weeks.

MSU College of Law Dean to Speak at GVSU

Charles Roboksi, Assistant Dean for Admissions & Financial Aid at Michigan State University College of Law, will speak at GVSU on the law school admissions process.

Student Association of Michigan Looking for New Participants

As of February 2^nd the Student Association of Michigan (SAM) subcommittee was formed at Grand Valley State University. SAM exists to serve the students of its member institutions without taking on excessively partisan behavior. It’s only bias is towards the needs and desires of its constituents. The mission statement of SAM is: to advance higher education by empowering current and future students to advocate on their own behalf for the accessibility, affordability, and quality of the public institutions of higher education in the state of Michigan.

 

Any student from Grand Valley is welcome to get involved in the SAM subcommittee. Contact the Student Senate Office in the Student Organization Center in room 0008 or by calling (616) 331-2333.

UPDATE: Date and Time for GV in DC informational meeting

Please join us for an informational meeting about internships in Washington, DC, and abroad on February 18, at 11 am in the Grand River Room (Kirkhof Center). Dr. Joseph Johnston, a Vice President at The Washington Center, will be answering your questions. Also, a reminder that Holly Bennett from the Carter Center will be on campus on February 12 to discuss internship opportunities in that organization.
