In a recent TED talk, Harvard political theorist Michael Sandel argued that our political discourse will be improved only if we learn to argue publicly about our moral convictions and principles of justice. In preparation for Sandel's visit on September 22, this panel will address the terms of political discourse today. Is democratic debate a lost art? Is our current political discourse adequate to the task of governing a diverse and complex society? Is there hope for improving the terms of political debate? What steps might we take in this direction?
